Making a collage is a lot like writing. I start with an image or a feeling I want to capture, and then I begin putting it together. And it all looks pretty shitty until I revise and edit everything: make cleaner cuts, resize, delete, and rethink stuff. However, the process is much faster from beginning to end.
This collage started with a picture of a tiny baby zebra and was completed in the midst of my ruminations on how sometimes there’s a little too much mayhem happening, and everything needs to just slow down; otherwise things begin to feel impossible.
But then I was reminded of a Muhammad Ali quote: “Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
